RESPIRATORY THERAPY
The demand for respiratory care
in the skilled nursing facility has increased with the admittance of more medically
complex patients. As a progressive nursing and rehabilitation center, we are constantly
seeking opportunities to meet the needs of our residents and the local hospitals.
The goal
of respiratory therapy is to restore normal breathing patterns, increase tolerance, and
improve quality of life following a variety of respiratory difficulties and diseases.
WOUND THERAPY
Aloha Nursing & Rehab Centre,
in conjunction with Sundance Rehabilitation Corporation, offers a comprehensive team
approach to advanced wound care programs. Referring physicians, facility nurses,
nutritional specialists, clinical specialists and Sundance therapists interact in a joint
program to assess and develop advanced treatment strategies for our patients.
We use the
best available technologies, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, shortwave
diathermy and specialty beds.
Clinical specialists work in tandem with our wound care team. They provide training
programs using the latest multimedia interactive techniques along with hands-on training.
When compared to single modality or device-only oriented programs, our program provides a
true transdisciplinary approach to wound care for our patients.
In addition to active forms of treatment, specialty beds which utilize air fluidized
therapy and low airloss therapy are available. As a preventive measure, all residents are
provided with low pressure reduction mattresses.

PHYSICAL THERAPY
The goals of physical therapy are to restore normal movement
and function while attempting to resolve problems such as pain, weakness, loss of motion
or lack of coordination.
Treatment begins with an evaluation under a physicians orders to develop an
appropriate treatment plan to restore function and to maximize independence with all
mobility skills.
The following treatments are available: Orthopedic impairments (total hip and knee replacements)
Neurological impairments (OVA)
Amputee prosthetic training
Wheelchair clinic
In addition, advanced medical devices are used for applications in pain management,
treatment of muscle dysfunction, treatment of OVA and upper motor neuron lesions and
contracture management.
SPEECH THERAPY
Through careful evaluation, planning and treatment programs,
speech-language pathologists work at improving a patients communication skills.
Services include direct therapeutic treatment, staff consultation and family counseling.
Disorders may include:
- Aphasia
- Dysphasia (swallowing disorders)
- Related neurologic speech and language impairments
- Oral-motor dysfunction
- Laryngectomy
- Alzheimer's and hearing impairment
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
The occupational therapy program provides services to
individuals who have physical, developmental, emotional or social deficits.
Our services
also treat patients who require specialized assistance to help them achieve maximum
independence in functional daily living skills and abilities.
